About Academy of FUN!
We're on a mission!
We're ambitious in our objectives, aiming to meet a need for quality, engaging activities that develop children's sense of identity and impact positively on their mental well being. We believe in providing experiences that will inspire and enrich the lives of the children we work with and that the positive engagement in the activities we offer will have lasting effects by creating happy memories and introducing them to meaningful activities that they can continue pursue and enjoy. We respect differences and build connections encouraging sociable behaviour, promoting acceptance and understanding. We're serious about FUN! because it's good for you!
What we do
Activities are fast paced, there’s always plenty of variety and the way we work is adapted to the age and ability of the children right in front of us. What is experienced as carefree (often silly) fun by the children, is very carefully planned activity, managed safely and in accordance with detailed risk assessments and a knowledge of safe practice. We offer depth and integrity, delivered as quirky and engaging. Academy of FUN! deliver high-quality, interactive entertainment for 4-11 year olds and families.
Who we are
The team is made up of professional and experienced individuals who bring imagination and enthusiasm in abundance! Kids love our down-to-earth, approachable team because we’re having fun too. Every member of our core team is highly qualified in their field of expertise. We’re comprised of professional opera singers, concert musicians, actors, writers, educators and artists. We’re all motivated by a love for introducing young people to new experiences but we’re also knowledgeable and have a wealth of experience to draw upon. Every member of our team holds a valid DBS certificate, is covered under our public liability insurance and has undergone relevant health and safety training. We all have experience working in school and childcare environments.
The Academy Ambassadors
As Dr Seuss quite rightly said:
'It's fun to have fun, but you have to know how!'
Chief Ambassador of FUN!
Kate is our very own creative genius! One of the founders at the academy, Kate is responsible for the creative ideas and making sure everything happens according to plan.
Kate has worked with children and families as a teacher, a children and families support worker and as Professor Brick at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester! She originally trained and performed as a classical pianist (quite a few moons ago).
Lynsey's the one who weaves a bit of magic into our creative ideas and turns them into grown-up strategies. She has over 20 years experience gained from roles in the public, charity and private sectors but thankfully isn't too corporate!
Her only experience of dressing up was as Paddington Bear - there are no pictures to share unfortunately! As a marketeer she is much happier creating stuff that helps us share our story!
Christopher Saint is an actor, storyteller and creator of events for children that may be described as inventive chaos, all safe and secretly structured of course.
Occasionally, he gets an acting job, usually involving him looking ridiculous. Recent roles include a snowman, a man wearing breakfast cereal and several eccentric characters in hats. Only slightly more seriously, he has taught performing arts, community engagement and teacher-education at colleges and universities.
Naomi is an Actor, Director and Drama teacher. She spent many years sailing the high seas as an entertainer.
She loves LEGO and started out performing as a dancing LEGO brick and Sir Sanis at LEGOLAND Windsor. Naomi has lots of experience working with children and regularly teaches and runs drama workshops and classes across the North West.
Rowan joined us after attending one of our Superhero parties.
A pocket sized, kids party legend, Rowan will use any excuse to don a costume and have some fun. When she's not training superheroes and Jedi, Rowan enjoys cooking and crafting.
The only way to describe Tom would be one of a kind... if he didn't have a twin brother!
Kids love Tom; he's an experienced children's entertainer and is as happy playing silly games as the kids are. Quirky, eccentric and at ease with everyone he meets, he's a great role model as well as being great FUN!
During the week Tom has a very boring day job, or at least in comparison to the FUN he has with us every weekend!
Charlotte has a wealth of experience working with children and enjoys running around, playing games and having FUN!
In her spare time Charlotte can be found dancing around her kitchen whilst baking and listening to ABBA.
Charlotte is a professional singer and singing teacher. Sometimes found in the opera halls of Norway.
Growing up just a stone's throw away from the Trafford centre Vic supported her studies with 5 years of LEGO madness at the LEGOland Discovery centre!
Vic is a freelance actress and also a senior mentor for young people on the National Citizen Service
